Flexitarianism

Updated: Mar 18

Recently Coach Cara switched to this style of eating, I will explain why below, but first, let me tell you more about Flexitarianism.

Flexitarianism, a dietary approach gaining popularity with those who are health-conscious individuals. It offers a refreshing perspective on mindful eating. Rooted in primarily plant-based consumption while allowing occasional indulgence in animal products, flexitarianism strikes a delicate balance between personal health, ethical principles, and environmental stewardship. In a world where dietary choices are increasingly scrutinized for their impact on both individual well-being and the planet, flexitarianism emerges as a compelling solution for those seeking harmony in their food choices.

At its core, flexitarianism embodies the notion of moderation and flexibility, encouraging you to prioritize plant-derived foods while maintaining the freedom to incorporate animal products sparingly. This approach not only aligns the evidence supporting the health benefits of plant-based diets but also acknowledges the ethical concerns surrounding industrial animal agriculture.

Moreover, flexitarianism fosters a deeper connection with food, encouraging mindfulness and intentionality in dietary decisions. Rather than subscribing to rigid dietary labels, flexitarians can embrace a holistic approach to nourishment, considering the nutritional value, sourcing, and environmental impact of the food you choose to eat.

The personal reason Coach Cara switched is Alzheimer's runs her family and research shows lower meat consumption and increased plant consumption can drastically improve the odds of getting Alzheimer's early. Also being anemic getting enough iron in her diet through plants is challenging. Especially around mensuration, so occasionally she incorporates meat and fish; sourced from sustainable and ethical companies, to help her optimize her health goals.
